Description
What kind of wine is it
Dolcetto d’Alba from Gianfranco Alessandria is a Piedmontese red wine made exclusively from Dolcetto. Vinification and ageing in temperature-controlled steel tanks define a direct and clean style, with a dry and juicy palate designed for immediate and straightforward drinking pleasure.
Where does it come from
It originates in Monforte d’Alba, in the Langhe, where the Gianfranco Alessandria winery has operated as a small family business for two generations. The territorial origin and artisanal approach guide a faithful interpretation of the grape variety, focused on freshness and clear expression.
How is it produced
The Dolcetto grapes are vinified in steel vats at controlled temperature. The maceration is brief, about four days, to extract color and structure without weighing down the profile. Ageing takes place in the same containers for six to eight months, keeping the wine crisp and consistent.
Tasting notes
In the glass, it shows a ruby red colour. On the nose, there are aromas of red flowers and cherry, with a simple and clean fruity character. On the palate, it is dry and juicy, with good persistence and a dry finish that invites another sip.
Food pairings
It pairs easily at the table with baked pasta dishes and roast meats, thanks to a balance that supports medium-bodied dishes. Its fruity nature and smoothness also make it suitable for everyday meals, without overpowering the food’s flavours.
When to serve
This is a red wine best served at cellar temperature to highlight its freshness and fruit profile. If recently opened, a brief aeration in the glass can help to make its aromas more accessible, while maintaining the dry and precise style typical of steel ageing.
