Description
What kind of wine it is
Adega Vila Real Colheita is a Douro red wine with a modern, youthful, fruit-forward character. It comes from a blend of Tinta Roriz, Touriga Franca and Touriga Nacional, three native varieties of the region. The style is balanced and approachable, designed to accompany everyday meals.
Where it comes from
The grapes come from mid-slope vineyards, with a small portion from high-altitude plots, located mainly in Baixo-Corgo, the westernmost and coolest subregion of the Douro. The soils are schist and the high-density vineyards face southwest. Selecting grapes from different elevations allows for a good balance of aromas, structure and acidity.
How it is made
The grapes are hand-harvested and are destemmed and crushed immediately upon arrival at the winery. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel at controlled temperature, with a gentle maceration aimed at a balanced, aromatic wine. Maturation continues in steel until bottling, to preserve the varietal aromas.
Tasting notes
The color is ruby red. The nose shows fresh red-fruit aromas, retained thanks to the gentle maceration that respects the typical notes of the Douro’s native varieties. On the palate it is supple and fresh, with balanced acidity that makes it harmonious and easy to drink.
What it pairs with
It pairs well with Portuguese cuisine in general and Mediterranean dishes. Its freshness and fruit make it suitable for grilled meats, flavorful pasta dishes and a casual dinner with friends.
When to serve it
It’s an everyday red, suited both to daily meals and informal occasions. It’s meant to be enjoyed young, when you’re looking for a fruity, fresh wine.
