Description
What kind of wine is it
Riva by Pier Paolo Grasso is a red wine from the Langhe made from Nebbiolo grapes. It shows a clear garnet color and an elegant style, built around freshness, savoriness and a spicy profile. It is a Langhe Nebbiolo that combines finesse and immediacy, ideal for those looking to discover the grape in a precise, vibrant expression.
Where it comes from
Work in the vineyard and in the cellar is based on respect for the land, which the estate borrows from future generations and must return in good condition. This idea is summed up by the word "Vinnoviamo" on the labels, a play on words that links care for the environment to a mindful way of making wine. In Neive the estate has built a winery that reflects this philosophy, with carefully chosen materials, a sustainable environmental footprint and spaces dedicated to guests, where you can take a break and savor the wine at leisure.
How it's made
Riva is made exclusively from Nebbiolo. Maturation takes place in stainless-steel tanks, a choice that preserves the purity of fruit and the clarity of the aromas, allowing the varietal character of the grape to emerge clearly.
Tasting notes
On appearance it is clear garnet. The nose is fresh and balsamic, with notes of mint and eucalyptus and of star anise, accompanied by spicy nuances of nutmeg and by small red berries, with graphite and cocoa in the background. The palate echoes the great freshness perceived on the nose, with excellent savoriness and a long, spicy finish.
Food pairings
Excellent with roast veal and grilled red meat. It also pairs consistently with long-aged cheeses, where freshness and savoriness balance the cheese’s structure and persistence.
When to serve it
It is a Langhe Nebbiolo suited to meat dinners and convivial lunches, but also for those who want an elegant Piedmont red to pour without long cellaring. Served in a large-bowled glass, it lets the balsamic and spicy aromas emerge, while its freshness makes it enjoyable from the very first sips.
