Description

What kind of wine it is

Negroamaro by Masseria Ficarigna is a red wine that expresses the character of the Salento peninsula. It is made from Negroamaro grapes and features a technically precise and approachable style, with an intense and well-balanced profile. Designed to offer a defined structure, it combines a smooth texture with an easy-drinking character. Its fruity nature is clearly manifested, ensuring a pleasant continuity between the olfactory and taste sensations, resulting in a glass with a harmonious and well-ordered character.

Where it comes from

This wine is born in the heart of Salento and is connected to the territory through the valorization of its signature grape variety. Masseria Ficarigna interprets this land and evokes deeply rooted local elements, such as the prickly pear. The label celebrates the magpie, the typical Salento magpie that helps spread the plant by dispersing its seeds, highlighting the connection between viticulture and the environment. Its geographical origin translates into a precise territorial imprint, focused on red berry fruit.

How it is produced

Production begins with careful harvesting of the grape bunches, which are quickly transported to preserve the integrity of the berries. This is followed by gentle pressing which precedes fermentation in steel tanks, accompanied by a fifteen-day maceration on the skins, essential to extract color and phenolic compounds. After racking, the wine is aged in barrique for a period of eight to ten months. This time in wood is integrated with the steel processing, defining a clean style and imparting greater roundness to the fruit.

Tasting notes

To the eye, it boasts a clear and bright ruby red hue. The aroma profile is deep, organized around rich and persistent notes of red berry fruit. On the palate it is intense, smooth, and balanced, characterized by a regular progression that combines energy and drinkability. The aging in wood supports the tactile sensation, leading to a composed finish and a consistent finale, which maintains the fruity line and enhances the overall cleanliness of the sip.

What to pair it with

The structure and balance of this red make it suitable for accompanying Mediterranean first courses, where it supports flavorful sauces without overwhelming the palate. It pairs naturally with tomato-based preparations, whose concentrated notes echo the fruity intensity of the glass. It is also a great match for cold cuts, as it balances their rich fat component, and for medium-aged cheeses, with which it maintains perfect taste harmony.

When to serve it

This red suits social occasions and full meals, as it enhances the dining experience with great definition. It is the recommended choice when you want a soft-drinking wine, characterized by a clear fruity profile and a well-calibrated structure. Ideal for a daily dinner or an informal gathering, it offers its best when given adequate rest in the bottle, allowing full appreciation of its freshness on the palate and its pleasant roundness.
