Description
Clos Haut-Peyraguey is a prestigious Sauternes Premier Grand Cru Classé produced by Bernard Magrez, coming from a small estate located in Bommes, in the heart of the Sauternes appellation. The vineyard covers 8.5 hectares in a single plot on the northeast side of the property, adjacent to Château d’Yquem's parcels. The soil consists of sand and gravel over a clay subsoil, with the vineyard mainly planted with Sémillon and a small percentage of Sauvignon.
The vineyard management follows sustainable viticulture principles, with mechanical soil working, partial grassing, and traditional manual practices such as suckering, tying, and leaf thinning. In the cellar, the must undergoes clarification at a controlled temperature, followed by alcoholic fermentation in new or one-year-old oak barriques, with regular racking during the aging process.
In the glass, it displays a bright and intense golden hue. On the nose, it expresses rich and enveloping aromas of candied fruit, honey, apricot, ripe citrus, sweet spices, and subtle floral notes. On the palate, it is elegant, dense, and harmonious, with a refined sweetness balanced by freshness, depth, and a long, aromatic finish.
It pairs wonderfully with foie gras, blue cheeses, fruit desserts, citrus tarts, and spicy Asian dishes.
