Description

What type of wine it is

Lu Meli by Li Ciuri is a red wine produced in Sicily from Syrah grapes, enhanced by a technique of light drying of the grapes. Its nature reveals a smooth and enveloping character, designed to fully enhance the ripeness of the fruit. The winemaking process involves careful maceration and aging in stainless steel, followed by maturation in the bottle which defines its stability. The overall profile combines intense aromatic richness with well-balanced roundness, reflecting the character of its homeland in every sip.

Origin

This red wine originates in Western Sicily, near Trapani, within the renowned wine region of Terre Siciliane. The local terroir favors a regular maturation of the grapes and a good concentration of aromas, helping to preserve the definition of its aromatic profile. The winery and wine names celebrate the local dialect and the maiolica of Caltagirone, underlining a strong territorial connection and a well-defined varietal identity.

How it is produced

The grapes are harvested entirely by hand during the third week of August, allowing for careful bunch selection. Once brought to the cellar, the grapes undergo a gentle destemming and crushing, followed by temperature-controlled maceration to delicately extract color and essential components. After fermentation, the wine rests in stainless steel vats until bottling. The subsequent aging in glass completes the process and ensures a smooth palate without the need for wood aging.

Tasting notes

In the glass, it displays a deep red color and brilliant clarity. The bouquet exudes characteristic and sweet honey notes, distinctly merging with fruity hints of plum, black cherry, currant, blueberry, and wild blackberry. On the palate it is soft and rounded, with a velvety texture balancing the aromatic expression with body richness. The tasting ends with a persistent finish, in line with the technical purity achieved through cellar work.

Food pairings

Its natural softness makes it perfect for grilled, braised, or stewed red meat dishes. It shows its best next to intense-flavored dishes like lamb, wild boar, and game, where the spices and succulence of the meats are balanced by the harmony of the glass. The aromatic structure also pairs very well with aged cheeses, especially traditional varieties such as Piacentinu Ennese, creating a continuous and satisfying flavor balance.

When to serve

It is the ideal choice for those seeking a rich drinking experience, perfect for Sunday lunches and dinners where meat-based dishes are the stars of the table. It easily suits both informal gatherings and traditional settings with structured dishes. To fully appreciate the complexity of fruity aromas and support the lengthy finish, serve at the proper serving temperature. It proves to be a reliable companion when precision of bouquet and pleasant fluidity are desired.
