Description

What type of wine it is

Palagetto’s Cabernet Franc Uno di Quattro is a Tuscan red wine made exclusively from Cabernet Franc grapes. It shows a bright ruby red color and a profile with good structure, balanced and round. It combines dark fruit with herbaceous nuances that define its style.

Where it comes from

The grapes come from the municipality of San Gimignano, in the province of Siena, from young vineyards about six years old, located at an altitude of 350 meters. The Tuscan hillside setting gives the Cabernet Franc ripe fruit, with herbaceous nuances that keep it fresh.

How it is made

Harvesting is mechanical. Red-wine vinification takes place in small concrete tanks, with a 15-day skin maceration and pump-overs during fermentation. The wine ages for six months in French oak barriques of second and third fill, which round out the structure without masking the fruit.

Tasting notes

To the eye it is bright ruby red. On the nose it opens on dark fruits such as blueberry and blackcurrant, with hints of coffee and licorice and a herbaceous note. On the palate it shows good structure, balance and roundness, with a good presence of red fruits.

Food pairing

It pairs well with grilled meat and with heartier, savory dishes from the land, such as pappardelle with wild boar. It accompanies mushrooms and medium- and long-aged cheeses. It also goes well with nuts, echoing the wine’s coffee notes.

When to serve it

A red suited to meat- and game-based meals, and to cheese boards with aged cheeses. Its balance makes it easy to recommend even to those seeking a full-bodied red without excesses.
