Description
What kind of wine is it
The Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico Superiore Historical by Umani Ronchi is a white wine made exclusively from Verdicchio grapes. It is designed to age for a long time before release, with a fresh yet structured character. It is a white that relies on extended maturation to express a profile of great balance.
Where it comes from
The grapes come from the historic vineyards of Montecarotto, in the Marche, in the heart of the Verdicchio Hills. Here, at about 310 meters above sea level, on an east-facing hillside, there are vineyards that are more than fifty years old. The soil is very deep, clay-loam and cool, particularly favorable to Verdicchio.
How it's made
The grapes are harvested by hand between late September and the first ten days of October, then undergo gentle pressing. The free-run must is rapidly cooled and allowed to settle by static decantation, then ferments in stainless-steel tanks for 15–20 days, without malolactic fermentation. The wine ages for 18 months in concrete tanks in continuous contact with the lees. It then rests for about 36 months in small stainless-steel tanks, until bottling, which takes place at least 6 months before release.
Tasting notes
The color is a bright straw yellow. On the nose it offers aromas of white fruit and fresh flowers, with mineral notes. On the palate it is fresh and structured, with good acidity and a long, persistent finish.
Food pairing
It pairs perfectly with fish dishes, white meats and fresh cheeses. The acidity supports the delicacy of these dishes, while the structure of the wine complements their texture.
When to serve it
It is a white suited to a carefully prepared meal, where its complexity can take center stage. It has already completed a long maturation, so it reaches the table ready to drink.
