Awarded wines

Gambero Rosso began as an eight-page supplement to the daily Il Manifesto, first published on 16 December 1986. The editor and founder was Stefano Bonilli.

Gambero Rosso helped found the ARCI Gola association, which later became Slow Food. In 1987, Gambero Rosso Editore was founded and, together with Slow Food, published the Vini d'Italia guide, edited by Daniele Cernilli and Carlo Petrini, which quickly became one of the most authoritative guides to Italian wines, both nationally and internationally. Each year, the Vini d'Italia guide reviews approximately 20,000 wines from the most important Italian wineries. For each wine reviewed, the guide assigns a score expressed in glasses; in particular, the score varies from a minimum of one glass to a maximum of three glasses. To date, the guide is printed in Italian, English, German, Japanese and Chinese.
