Description
Esporão Reserva Tinto is a red wine made exclusively from grapes grown in the vineyards of Herdade do Esporão, in Alentejo. Produced from a blend of Alicante Bouschet, Trincadeira, Touriga Nacional, Aragonez, and Cabernet Sauvignon, it perfectly encapsulates the diversity of the granitic-clay soils and the maturity of the vines, offering a rich, intense, and well-balanced wine.
The winemaking process includes hand harvesting of the grapes, followed by optical selection of the berries. Each variety is vinified separately with destemming and crushing, controlled alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel vats, cement tanks, and small marble lagares, followed by malolactic fermentation in steel tanks. The wine is aged for 12 months in both new and second-use American and French oak barrels, with a further refinement of at least six months in the bottle before release.
In the glass it shows an intense ruby color. The bouquet is dominated by aromas of ripe wild berries, blackberries, and plums, complemented by elegant spicy notes of cinnamon and liquorice. On the palate it is distinguished by richness and elegance, with flavors of wild berries and sweet spices, enhanced by harmonious freshness and a persistent, well-balanced finish.
It pairs perfectly with roasted red meats, game, and aged cheeses.
