Description
What kind of wine is it?
Arthur Metz Pinot Gris is a white wine from Alsace made from Pinot Grigio grapes. The Demi-Sec style is distinguished by a marked smoothness and roundness, well balanced by pronounced freshness. Ageing in stainless steel preserves the varietal purity and original aromatic profile. The result is a glass with an accessible and linear character, designed for a harmonious and pleasant drinking experience.
Where does it come from?
The grapes come from Alsace, cultivated along a viticultural area stretching about 120 kilometres between the Bas-Rhin and Haut-Rhin departments. The vineyards enjoy a privileged position between the Vosges mountains and the Alsace plain, providing an environment that promotes regular grape ripening. Predominantly calcareous soils contribute typicality and structure, which give the wine a defined profile and good consistency.
How is it produced?
The harvest takes place once the grapes are perfectly ripe, followed by temperature-controlled fermentation. After this process, the wine is carefully racked and filtered to maintain a high aromatic clarity before bottling. Ageing in stainless steel is a deliberate choice to safeguard the natural expression of the grape, while the retention of residual sugar defines the Demi-Sec style.
Tasting notes
On appearance, it is light and bright in colour, with a luminosity that foreshadows a clear visual signature. The nose reveals typical fruity and floral notes that shape a clean and immediate aromatic profile. On the palate, it is harmonious and round, with measured sweetness well balanced by a balanced acidity and a constant freshness that lingers through to the finish.
Food pairings
The Demi-Sec imprint and soft structure make it suitable for creating pleasant flavour contrasts with intensely flavoured dishes. It pairs ideally with blue cheeses and foie gras, where the glass's sweetness balances out savouriness and persistence. This wine also enhances nut-based desserts and accentuates the aromatic components of the meal without weighing down the palate, ensuring ongoing taste balance.
When to serve it
This white is designed for convivial moments, perfect when seeking an accessible and fresh sip. It shines in informal settings, thanks to its clean aromatic profile and well-calibrated roundness. Its nature makes it a versatile choice, suitable for both afternoon aperitifs and the closing stages of a meal. An excellent option for those who prefer white wines characterised by harmony and smoothness.
