Description

What type of wine is it

Casalforte Amarone della Valpolicella is a red wine from Veneto, created from a meticulous blend of Corvina, Rondinella, and Corvinone grapes. These varieties ripen in the classic area north of Verona, where both climate and soil contribute to a rich, complex tasting profile. The appassimento in fruttai technique extends until January, concentrating sugars and extracts in the grapes. Long aging in wood gives this red wine a full-bodied character, dominated by deep fruity aromas and delicately spicy notes.

Where it comes from

This intense red is born from vineyards north of Verona, an area of hills highly suited for viticulture. The Amarone della Valpolicella production zone is recognized for its unique climatic and geological characteristics, ideal for local dark-skinned varieties. Choosing native grapes like Corvina, Rondinella, and Corvinone reaffirms a genuine link with the surrounding environment. The controlled geographic origin ensures a true expression of the territory, ideal for wines made for long aging.

How it’s produced

Vinification begins with a targeted harvest of the blend, followed by resting the bunches in fruttai until January. This dehydration stage reduces water content and increases the concentration of extracts. What follows is a deliberately slow fermentation, along with a carefully timed period of skin maceration to absorb color and tannins. The entire cycle culminates in meticulous aging in oak barrels lasting at least twenty-four months, which shapes the wine’s volume and intensity.

Tasting notes

In the glass, the wine shows a deep garnet-red color, a sign of extended, careful extraction. The nose reveals clear hints of cherry jam with echoes of cinnamon, supported by pleasant notes of vanilla and coffee gained from the wood. On the palate, it is smooth and structured, capable of coating the mouth with a full, rounded sip. The balance between notable gustatory density and a velvety progression ensures a long-lasting finish.

Food pairing

The robust character and complex weave of this label call for dishes equally savory and intense. It pairs beautifully with first courses accompanied by rich truffle sauces, where the aroma of the mushroom is balanced by the wine’s spicy profile. It is also an ideal match for classic braised dishes and hearty cuts of grilled meat. Finally, it highlights the end of a meal when served with a varied selection of aged cheeses, balancing the saltiness of the food with its innate smoothness.

When to serve it

This Venetian red is well suited for important social occasions, where a lavish meal calls for a wine that is equally present and rich. Its rigorous technical process, from drying to resting in oak, ensures longevity and remarkable evolution in the glass. It is perfect to serve during dinners with elaborate menus, mainly with red meat. To best enjoy its spicy nuances and broad textural character, attentive service is recommended to highlight its aromatic complexity.
