Description

What kind of wine is it

Bolgheri Abburracciugagnene by Borgo San Frediano is a red wine made from Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. The winemaking process focuses on aromatic purity and precise fruit expression, followed by aging that helps to create a balanced profile. The result is a glass of medium structure, featuring well-integrated tannins and good persistence on the palate, faithfully representing its origins and the meticulous work carried out in the cellar.

Where does it come from

This red wine is closely linked to the Bolgheri area, a renowned Tuscan wine region famous for its internationally-styled reds. The narrative identity of the name is inspired by the lively atmosphere of the historic art-house cinema "L’Universale," located just outside Porta San Frediano in Florence. Within this playful setting was born the cheer Abburracciugagnene, shouted at Marlon Brando during the screening of the famous film "Last Tango in Paris," an anecdote that gives the label a specific cultural reference while preserving its wine-making soul.

How is it made

After harvest, the grapes undergo vinification in steel tanks, a technical choice allowing precise control during fermentation and the management of aromas. Once fermentation is complete, the wine continues its process with seven months of aging in concrete. The use of this material for maturation encourages gradual stabilization and a measured evolution, which keeps the flavor profile focused and preserves the authentic characteristics of the grapes.

Tasting notes

In the glass, the wine displays an intense ruby red color, notable for its deep shade reflecting strong color concentration. On the nose, it conveys a clean and recognizable combination of vegetal notes and clear red fruit hints, in line with the chosen maturation method. On the palate, it offers a harmonious sip, led by polished tannins that guide the tasting experience with remarkable smoothness. The finish stands out for its persistence, intertwining fruity notes and vegetal touches in a balanced ending.

Food pairings

At the table, this red pairs effectively with grilled red meats and selections of aged cheeses, bringing out its well-structured tannic texture. The fruit notes and delicate herbal element support dishes where roasted flavors and succulence call for a precise and rewarding wine. A grilled steak is an ideal match, while enjoying it with aged cheeses makes the most of the wine’s balance to offset the food’s intensity and keep the palate refreshed.

When to serve it

This label is perfect for those seeking a well-balanced wine offering a linear and persistent flavor profile. It is ideal for lunches and dinners featuring characterful meats or cheeses, thanks to its approach, which makes food and wine pairing natural and harmonious. The lack of wood aging gives the wine a clean, expressive freshness. It is particularly enjoyable when consumed within a reasonably short time from bottling, allowing the fruit’s fragrance and aromatic purity to shine.
