Description

What kind of wine it is

The Bolgheri Rosso by Tenuta Meraviglia is a red wine made exclusively from Cabernet Franc grapes. It shows a deep, bright ruby color with violet highlights, and an intense profile of black and red fruit. On the palate it is warm and consistent, with an ultra-fine texture and sweet tannins, flavorful.

Where it comes from

The grapes come from the vineyards of Tenuta Meraviglia, in the Bolgheri area of Tuscany, at about 150 meters above sea level, facing southwest. The soils are of volcanic origin and rich in stones, a terroir that contributes to the intense character of Cabernet Franc.

How it is made

Vinification is spontaneous, in raw truncated-conical concrete vats, with fermentation by indigenous yeasts for about thirteen days at controlled temperature, with gentle pump-overs. The wine ages for twelve months in a large, untoasted French oak cask. This is followed by bottle aging for three months.

Tasting notes

In appearance it is deep ruby and bright, with violet hues. The nose is intense and pronounced, with blackcurrant, wild blackberry, cherry and raspberry, enriched by notes of tobacco, licorice, forest floor and roasted tones. The palate is warm and consistent, with an ultra-fine texture and sweet tannins, flavorful.

Food pairing

It pairs well with grilled red meats and roasts, with game, and with pasta dishes with ragù. It also accompanies aged cheeses. Its fruity profile and sweet tannin make it versatile at the table.

When to serve it

This is a red suited to lunches and dinners of Tuscan cuisine and boldly flavored dishes. It shines in a large-bowled glass, which lets the fruit and the notes of forest floor and licorice emerge. Opening the bottle a little in advance allows the aromas to express themselves at their best.
