Description

What kind of wine it is

Grattamacco Bianco Vermentino is a Tuscan white wine made from Vermentino grapes. Hailing from the Bolgheri area, this wine stands out for its great freshness and a pronounced mineral edge. Vinification alternates between stainless steel and barrique, giving a precise expression of fruit, while time on the fine lees lends a dynamic structure.

Where it comes from

This wine is born in Tuscany, within the Bolgheri appellation, from vineyards located one hundred meters above sea level. The position ensures excellent exposure to sea breezes that cool the bunches. The soils are marked by white clays and a calcareous marly flysch, elements that confer a distinct mineral vein. Vineyard management respects the surrounding environment.

How it is made

The Vermentino grapes are vinified using different materials to bring out their natural qualities. A portion of the must ferments in barrique to add roundness, while the rest matures in stainless-steel tanks to ensure clarity of expression. The wine ages six months on the fine lees with frequent bâtonnage, enriching body and a seamless flow on the palate up to bottling.

Tasting notes

In the glass it shows a bright straw-yellow color that anticipates freshness and purity. The nose is expansive, with ripe fruit and floral aromas, enhanced by elegant saline nuances from the nearby sea. The palate is balanced and energetic, driven by a distinct salinity that leads to a long finish consistent with the initial bouquet.

Food pairing

The wine’s aromatic richness makes it ideal with shellfish, delicate fish and fresh cheeses. True to regional tradition, the perfect match is cacciucco, the typical Tuscan seafood stew. This pairing highlights the dish’s iodine-tinged elements and delivers a fresh, mineral balance on the palate.

When to serve it

This label is perfect for a convivial dinner or a leisurely Sunday lunch with rich, relaxed flavors, when you want a maritime, easy-drinking profile capable of offering notable continuity on the palate. Thanks to the careful maturation, the wine works not only as an aperitif but also throughout the meal, ideal for showcasing its aromatic purity and freshness, making it a perfect companion for informal get-togethers, outdoor lunches or evenings with friends.
