Description
What kind of wine is it
Bonnes-Mares by Domaine Bruno Clair is a red wine produced in Burgundy exclusively from Pinot Noir grapes. This label reflects a meticulous technical approach, resulting in a sip with a structured texture thanks to extended aging in wood. The aromatic profile focuses on dark fruits and spices, ensuring a precise length of taste for palates in search of intensity and depth in a Grand Cru.
Where it comes from
The Domaine Bruno Clair estate is located in Marsannay-la-Côte, in the heart of Burgundy, where it cultivates its own vines in a highly suitable environment. The grapes are grown on clay-limestone soils, which are fundamental in defining the wine’s character. The limestone component gives precision and tension to the sip, while the presence of clay ensures volume and continuity on the palate and supports the typical solidity of the appellation.
How it is made
The winemaking process involves the partial use of whole grape clusters, followed by a ten-to-fifteen-day maceration in wooden vats. This extraction phase provides a solid framework before the maturation stage. Aging then takes place for eighteen to twenty months in oak barriques, some of which are new, to perfect the balance of flavors and support the wine’s complex development.
Tasting notes
On visual inspection, the wine shows an intense ruby red color, characterized by a concentrated shade. The nose is clean, marked by aromas of black fruits and spices, enriched by nuances from the wood. On the palate, it expresses a consistent dynamic, supported by a notable structure and prolonged taste persistence, closing the sip with precision and cleanliness.
Food pairings
The wine’s concentration calls for pairing with rich and structured dishes. It finds its ideal balance alongside braised red meats, game dishes, and selections of blue cheeses. The succulent texture of slow-cooked foods and the use of intense sauces harmoniously integrate with the spicy notes and depth of this label.
When to serve it
This label is best enjoyed at formal dinners, as it enhances menus with robust flavors. The well-extracted body and extended aging in oak make it a bottle with aging potential, able to further refine if stored in the cellar. Designed for medium-to-long term consumption, the wine will develop greater harmony and integration of its elements as the years go by.
