Description
What kind of wine is it?
Champagne La Vigne d’Antan by Tarlant is a Blanc de Blancs made from Chardonnay grown in an ungrafted vineyard located in Oeuilly, in the Vallée de la Marne. The style is Brut Nature, without dosage, offering a dry and well-defined sip. Barrel vinification and aging on the lees for over 15 years, according to the Traditional Method, shape a complex and profound profile with a long and persistent finish.
Where does it come from?
The grapes come from Oeuilly, in the Vallée de la Marne, a historic Champagne region. The selection originates from an ungrafted vineyard (not grafted), a rare feature that defines the wine’s identity. Its origin is reflected in a precise interpretation of Chardonnay, with recognizable mineral undertones and a linear, well-structured progression on the palate supported by a defined structure and controlled persistence.
How is it made?
The Chardonnay is harvested in September and vinified in barrels, a deliberate choice that leaves a clear imprint on the final profile. After fermentation, the wine continues maturing on the lees for over 15 years, a crucial step to build aromatic complexity and texture. The Brut Nature style keeps the palate dry and focused, balancing intensity, freshness, and depth.
Tasting notes
In the glass, it shows a brilliant straw yellow color and a fine, elegant perlage. The nose reveals tropical and exotic fruits, white flowers, and distinct mineral notes. On the palate, the sip is juicy and precise, with spice from oak aging that adds definition without weighing it down. The finish is fresh, long, and persistent, consistent with its lengthy lees aging.
Pairings
It pairs well as an aperitif when seeking a dry, clean profile, and easily accompanies fish and shellfish, especially where delicacy and savoriness are important. Its freshness and persistence also support more structured seafood dishes, keeping the palate tense and focused. With simple dressings, it enhances flavor without overpowering it.
When to serve it
It shows its best when the precision of the sip matters, from aperitif through to a seafood dinner. Serving highlights its perlage and freshness, bringing out fruity, floral, and mineral notes along with the barrel-driven spice. It's also suitable for a dedicated tasting thanks to the complexity built over more than 15 years on the lees and the Brut Nature profile, finishing with a crisp, clean close.
