Description
Joseph Krug had a dream, to be able to offer the world each year the finest Champagne that his estates could provide, regardless of the climate conditions: Krug Grande Cuvée is the highest, most sublime and faithful manifestation of this commitment, an absolute quality objective that Krug's maison has pursued with an inimitable style since 1843. The Édition number corresponds to the number of times Krug's founder has been able to realize his dream.
The blend of the 173rd edition of Krug Grande Cuvée is composed of 150 wines selected from 13 different vintages. The youngest dates back to 2017, while the oldest to 2001. The reserve wines used to create the 173rd edition of Krug Grande Cuvée come from various plots and from 10 different vintages. Their presence adds depth and personality to the final blend.
The Krug Grande Cuvée 173rd edition has an intense golden yellow color. The perlage is fine and persistent. On the nose, it releases aromas of toasted bread, brioche, stone fruits, verbena, vanilla pastry cream, and a hint of rum baba; on the palate, it is rich, creamy, and generous, with notes of peaches in syrup, ripe citrus, toasted pine nuts, and a brilliant freshness that culminates in a crisp lemon finish.
This Champagne lends itself to a multitude of culinary pairings, from the simplest to the most refined. It can be served as an aperitif, accompanied with aged Parmesan and Jabugo ham or with oysters or asparagus with roasted garlic butter.
