Description
This Pinot Noir is produced by the Movia winery, located in Slovenia, in a border territory, the Brda. There is the Italian / Friulian Collio and the Slovenian one, known as Brda. These are areas of great natural and wine-growing charm. The Movia winery is one of the largest in the area, part of a niche of wineries in these borderlands, whose wines are definitely worth discovering. These are wines from artisan winemakers with lower than average sulfite content.
It is composed exclusively of Pinot Noir grapes, harvested late and by hand. Once in the winery, the grapes undergo destemming and crushing. Fermentation occurs in steel tanks with the addition of a pied de cuve, with skin maceration for 30-40 days. This is followed by draining and the passage of the wine through the settled skins. Ageing takes place in barrels for 3 years.
With a ruby red color, it reveals aromas of ripe black fruits, dark chocolate, and tobacco on the nose. The taste is smooth and harmonious, with velvety tannins and a long finish.
The wine pairs well with stewed meats and game.
