Description
What kind of wine is it?
Lugana I Frati from Ca’ dei Frati is made from Turbiana grapes grown near Lake Garda. It is characterized by a fresh, linear style, with an elegant aromatic profile and medium structure. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel at controlled temperatures, followed by six months of aging on fine lees and further rest in bottle. This process delivers an immediately enjoyable wine, with good persistence and pleasant savoriness.
Where does it come from?
The vineyards are located on the southern shore of Lake Garda in Lombardy, within the Lugana area. The region near Lake Garda lends the wine its special characteristics, while the temperature variations between day and night enhance its aromatic profile.
How is it made?
After gentle pressing, fermentation proceeds in stainless steel at controlled temperature. The wine remains in contact with the fine lees for about six months. This is followed by two months of bottle aging, so the wine achieves balance and readiness for tasting.
Tasting notes
In the glass, Lugana I Frati shows a straw yellow color with greenish highlights, clear and bright. On the nose, it presents a bouquet of white flowers, with notes of apricot, fresh almond, and subtle balsamic and mineral hints. On the palate, it is enveloping and savory, supported by lively, well-balanced acidity, with a persistent finish reminiscent of citrus and sweet spices.
Food pairing
This wine pairs well with cold or warm appetizers based on fish, such as trout carpaccio or seafood salads. It is ideal with steamed, grilled fish, and seared shellfish. Among typical local dishes, it accompanies risotto with perch and Lake Garda-style spaghetti with clams. Its freshness and savoriness enhance the fruity and mineral notes, making this wine versatile at the table.
When to serve it
We recommend serving Lugana I Frati chilled in slightly flared tulip glasses. The wine is ready to drink upon release and maintains its integrity for several years. Its freshness suits informal occasions during warmer months, while its structure allows for more complex pairings and special convivial moments.
