Description

What kind of wine it is

Molino Real by Telmo Rodríguez is a natural sweet wine from Málaga, produced in Spain exclusively from Moscatel de Alejandría grapes. Its style is rich and aromatic, with a noticeable freshness that delivers a balanced sip. The process remains traditional, using spontaneous fermentation and maturation in stainless steel to preserve the varietal profile, with no oak influences and a long persistence.

Where it comes from

This wine is born in the historic wine region of Málaga, on the hills surrounding the village of Cómpeta. The grapes come from old bush-trained vines located in traditional plots such as Malacapa, Ventarral, Cerro Gourman, and Alto la Zorra, where the culture of sweet wines forms an integral part of the local identity. The hilly origin and work on small parcels shape the wine towards aromatic intensity and concentration, with a clear Mediterranean footprint.

How it is made

Harvesting is done by hand and collected in boxes, with a careful selection of bunches destined for drying. After picking, the grapes rest in the “paseros” to concentrate sugars and aromas; then the dried bunches are pressed to extract a limited amount of must. Fermentation starts with indigenous yeasts and stops naturally, after which the wine matures for 10 months in stainless steel to keep fruit freshness and aromatic clarity intact.

Tasting notes

In the glass, the wine displays an intense golden hue. The nose is clean, with notes of candied fruit, orange peel, honey, and orange blossom. On the palate it is rich and enveloping, balanced by vivid acidity that provides tension and extends the finish. The aftertaste feels harmonious and velvety, with lingering citrus and honeyed notes.

Food pairings

It pairs perfectly with blue cheeses, where the contrast between sweetness and savoriness comes naturally. It also matches well with foie gras, due to a similarity in texture and intensity. Among desserts, it shines with preparations based on dried fruits and citrus, echoing its orange peel and honey notes.

When to serve it

It is ideal at the end of a meal, when you want an intense yet balanced natural sweet wine. It is also well-suited to dedicated tastings, thanks to the concentration achieved by drying and the stainless–steel maturation that keeps its profile defined and fresh. It’s a suitable choice whenever the menu features blue cheeses, foie gras, or citrus desserts, allowing the wine time to gradually reveal its varietal aromas.
