Description

Château Palmer has belonged to two families, Mahler-Besse and Sichel, since the early decades of the 1900s. The golden years began in the 1990s with the management of Thomas Duroux, agronomist and oenologist, who substantially renovated the château's cellar.

Biodynamic agriculture has been practiced since 2008. After the harvest, the grapes are vinified in steel vats of various sizes, from 89 to 194 hl, so as to allow an accurate vinification of the individual parcels. The malolactic fermentation takes place in the barrels. Subsequently the wine is aged in French oak barrels (50% to 70% new wood) for 18-20 months, according to the needs of the vintage. Starting from 2015, the sulphites added during the winemaking stages are reduced to a minimum.

In the glass the wine appears of a deep purple red color. The olfactory profile moves on aromas of ripe black fruits, licorice in addition to vanilla and slightly smoky notes. The sip is rich and structured, with round tannins and a long, spicy finish.

Château Palmer is perfect paired with roast duck or bacon-crusted pork loin with rosemary potatoes. It is advisable to let the wine settle for at least 3 hours before serving it.
