Margaux AOC 1er Cru Classé Grand Vin 2019 Château Margaux

The Grand Vin 1er Cru Classé is a wine from Château Margaux, the prestigious French winery whose foundation dates back at least to the 12th century, when the palace was used as a royal residence. However, it was not until 1500 that the first vineyards were planted in Château Margaux by the de Lestonnac family. Over the centuries it passed from hand to hand to different families and the vineyards more or less always maintain the same extension they have today, of 80 hectares. Since the 1970s the Château has been in the hands of the Mentzelopoulos family, who have reconstructed and innovated the cellar.

The Grand Vin 1er Cru Classé by Château Margaux is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (90%), Merlot (7%), Cabernet Franc (2%) and Petit Verdot (1%). The vinification takes place both in steel and in wood, while the aging takes place in new wooden barrels for 18-24 months, depending on the vintage.

The nose reveals a rich and multifaceted bouquet of aromas of violet and rose, blueberries and raspberries, with notes of graphite and slightly smoky. The sip is vibrant and multifaceted, with very fine tannins and a brilliant acidity. Very long finish.

The Grand Vin 1er Cru Classé by Château Margaux is the ideal accompaniment to elaborate dishes of red meats and game.
