Description

Château Lafite Rothschild was born in vineyards located in the heart of the AOC Pessac-Léognan, in the renowned Bordeaux wine region. It is one of the premier crus included in the Official Classification of Bordeaux Wines of 1855, classification system was wanted by the Emperor Napoleon III on the occasion of the Universal Exposition of Paris, in order to make the best Bordeaux wines more recognizable even outside the borders of France. The wines were ordered from the first to the fifth cru based on the reputation of the cellar and the price, which at the time was a factor directly related to quality. Together with the other premier cru Grand Classé it is considered a legend that made the history of wine.

It is mainly produced with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes, carefully picked and selected by hand at different levels of maturity, in order to give the finished wine a unique consistency and aromatic complexity. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature. After malolactic fermentation, the wine ages for 18-20 months in new French oak barrels.

Château Lafite is characterized by a concentrated and deep ruby red color. The nose opens with intense aromas of blackberry in jam and licorice, enriched with hints of gravel, earth and graphite. On the palate it is full-bodied and fresh, with soft tannins that accompany an elegant cassis finish.

Perfect to accompany grilled red meats and noble poultry, it is ideal in combination with game or as a meditation wine.
