Description
What kind of wine it is
Battigia by Paolo Leo is a white wine from Apulia made exclusively from Chardonnay grapes. The production and maturation process preserves a clean and linear profile, thus enhancing the natural characteristics of the grape. The style is smooth on the palate, with good persistence and a clear fruity imprint. This label naturally enhances the tasting balance and pleasant drinkability.
Where it comes from
The grapes come from vineyards located in the province of Brindisi, situated in the renowned area of Apulia. The vineyard benefits from the coastal climate, a Mediterranean zone where the steady warmth promotes regular ripening. This specific geographical location, historically oriented towards the production of fragrant whites, helps define an immediate and recognizable style that preserves the wine’s identity.
How it is produced
The process begins with destemming and crushing of the grapes, followed by a brief period of cold maceration. The must is then gently pressed and clarified to obtain a clear juice before fermentation. The latter takes place in steel vats, ensuring a precise aromatic profile. The wine completes its production cycle with a four-month refinement in the same steel containers before bottling.
Tasting notes
In the glass, it shows a bright straw yellow color. The aromatic profile opens with a bouquet structured on elegant notes of tropical fruit, with distinct aromas of peach, mango, and pineapple. On the palate, it enters pleasantly fresh and soft, supported by a balanced texture leading to a persistent finish, able to prolong the same fruity sensations perceived on the nose.
Pairings
Its natural freshness makes it a recommended companion for seafood cuisine and enhances various seafood preparations and coastal recipes. This white also pairs easily with white meats, harmoniously accompanying the dish. Thanks to its fruity aromatic profile and structural roundness, it is also suitable for pairing with platters of cured meats and cold cuts, bringing balance and elegance to the meal.
When to serve it
Its clarity makes it suitable for lunches and convivial dinners, where an accessible and easygoing wine is desired. Its technical essence is best appreciated when served well-chilled, making it an excellent choice to start a meal. It is ideal for continuous table service, as it maintains its flavor consistency from the moment of opening until the last glass.
