Description
Señora de las Alturas is a red wine produced by Viña Zorzal Wines, a family-owned business from Navarra, located in the town of Fitero, the only municipality in the region situated in the Iberian mountain range. The grapes come from the Pontigos plot, a historic vineyard with pre-phylloxera Garnacha vines, many of which are ungrafted and with an average age of about 140 years, cultivated in the border area between the Sierra de Cameros and the Ebro Valley.
Harvesting is manual with selection of the best bunches in crates. Alcoholic fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts in French barrels, followed by malolactic fermentation and a 15-month aging period in second-pass barrels. The wine undergoes gentle clarification and filtration, without stabilization.
In the glass, it appears with a medium-intensity garnet color, clear and bright. The nose is clean and intense, with hints of berries and red fruits, accompanied by earthy and spicy notes. The palate is dry, fresh, and well-balanced, with marked acidity, full and enveloping body. Berries are again distinguishable, along with spices, light green notes, and a pleasant bitter vein, reflecting the mineral and distinctive character of the wine.
Perfect with pasta, legumes, cured meats, and all types of grilled meats.
