Description

What Kind of Wine It Is

Li Ciuri’s Grillo is a white wine from the Sicilia denomination produced in the Trapani area. Made from Grillo grapes, it stands out for its fresh aromatic profile and a lively palate with distinct citrus notes. Vinification includes partial aging in barrique and in steel, followed by resting in bottle. This interpretation offers a balanced glass that reflects the wine’s local identity and ensures a smooth and elegant drinking experience.

Origin

This white is born in the western part of the island, near Trapani, in an environment influenced by its proximity to the sea. Constant sea breezes give the wine a pronounced savory note and help define the fruit’s expression. The territorial link is emphasized by the winery name, which means "flowers" in dialect, and references to traditional Caltagirone majolica tiles. These are ideal conditions for highlighting the coastal character of these vineyards.

How It’s Made

Harvest takes place towards the end of August, when the clusters reach the right level of ripeness. The production involves a mixed fermentation, partly in barrique and partly in steel tanks, to impart structure without masking the original fragrance. Next, the wine is given a brief aging in steel to preserve its aromatic definition. The process concludes with bottle maturation before release.

Tasting Notes

In the glass it shows a bright straw yellow, consistent with its measured aging. The nose releases inviting citrus aromas enriched by pronounced marine nuances. On the palate, the entry is direct and pleasant, driven by a distinct sapidity that continues throughout. The tasting closes with a salty, clean finish that leaves the palate dry and underscores the fresh character of the grape.

Food Pairings

Its maritime nature makes it ideal with fish and shellfish, enhancing delicate dishes thanks to its good acidity. It pairs very well with fresh cheeses and creates a harmonious balance at the table. It also marries beautifully with delicate risottos, but its clean and precise profile makes it equally enjoyable simply as an aperitif.

When to Serve

Ideal for informal occasions, it pleasantly accompanies dinners based on light recipes and clear flavors. The skilled use of barrique and steel, along with resting in glass, offers a wine ready to enjoy. Served well chilled, it maintains a vibrant taste throughout the meal and highlights both fruity and salty aromas. It’s the right choice when seeking a refreshing and balanced drink, perfect from start to finish of the evening.
