Description

What kind of wine is it

Cygnus by Tasca d’Almerita is a red wine produced in Sicily, born from a harmonious blend of Nero d’Avola and Cabernet Sauvignon. The grapes are grown within the Regaleali Estate, where strict manual selection ensures a high quality standard right from the vineyard. Careful vinification and aging in wood deliver a full and structured style. The meeting between the warmth of the land and precise winemaking technique creates a fruity red, with a spicy profile and smooth tannic texture, ideal for those seeking depth and expressive clarity.

Where does it come from

This Italian red comes to life in the vineyards of the Regaleali Estate, located in the province of Palermo, in the green heart of the island. Its geographical identity is clear and tied to a single historic producer who skillfully interprets the potential of Sicily. The restricted origin of the grapes allows for a consistent profile vintage after vintage and enhances a modern and authentic expression of island winemaking. The result is a solid and tangible connection to the land in every glass.

How is it produced

The creation of this wine starts with a fully manual harvest to preserve the integrity of the grape clusters. Transformation includes temperature-controlled fermentation at 28°C for about two weeks, designed to retain the grapes’ original aromatic intensity. Afterwards, the wine matures through a prolonged barrique aging of about 14 months. This measured rest in wood grants the final wine greater complexity and impeccably melds balance and smoothness before bottling.

Tasting notes

In the glass, it displays a bright and compact ruby red color. The nose offers a broad and intense bouquet, characterized by marked aromas of blackberry, cherry, and raspberry, enriched by enveloping notes of vanilla, tobacco, and chocolate from the barrique. On the palate, the initial impact is powerful and fruity, supported by a solid yet graceful structure. The long, harmonious finish is sustained by well-integrated tannins, balancing spicy sensations and the delicate persistence of the fruit.

Food pairings

Thanks to its rich structure, this red is an excellent match for tasty charcuterie boards and hearty braised meats. The velvety tannins and deep spicy notes pair perfectly with preparations based on game and roasts, supporting long cooking times and elaborate sauces. Adding mushrooms to your recipes enhances the wine’s earthy, warm notes and makes it a great companion for characterful regional dishes, like Sicilian-style rolls.

When to serve

Its structured nature makes it the ideal protagonist for lunches and convivial dinners, when meat-based menus call for a worthy pairing. The cooler seasons provide the perfect context to appreciate the wood notes and the expressiveness of dark fruit. It can confidently be opened to enrich an important table, ensuring a rounded and satisfying drinking experience where aromatic intensity and smoothness naturally find their balance.
