Description
What kind of wine is it
Gewürztraminer Flora di Girlan is a white wine obtained from Gewürztraminer grapes produced in Südtirol, Alto Adige. It ferments at a controlled temperature in stainless steel and ages on the fine lees in steel without undergoing malolactic fermentation, maintaining an aromatic, full and smooth style.
Where it comes from
The grapes come partly from the Girlan subzone on the Oltradige hills and partly from Bassa Atesina, in the municipality of Cortaccia. The hillside vineyards are located at 450–500 m above sea level and the soils vary from stony to clayey with mineral presence; the combination of areas and soils contributes to the wine's character.
How it is produced
Harvesting is manual and the grapes are collected in small containers for transportation to the winery. After a brief maceration and whole cluster pressing, the must is clarified by natural sedimentation. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel at controlled temperature and aging continues for eight months on the fine lees in steel tanks, without malolactic fermentation.
Tasting notes
On the nose it displays an intense and aromatic profile, in line with fermentation that takes place in steel. On the palate, the character is full and smooth, with a progression that favors roundness and breadth. This is a white wine that shows its best alongside robust flavors.
Food pairings
It pairs well with dishes with bold flavors and finds balance with equally intense preparations. It is recommended with shellfish, flavorful cheeses, and desserts such as strudel, where its fragrance and smoothness enhance the richness of each bite.
When to serve
It is an excellent choice when looking for an aromatic, full and smooth white wine capable of accompanying dishes with pronounced taste. The processing in stainless steel, aging on fine lees and absence of malolactic fermentation define a style focused on aromatic purity and smoothness, without any woody notes.
