Description

Gigino Grande is a blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes produced by Barbanera in memory of Luigi Barbanera.

After the harvest, which takes place around the first week of October, the selected grapes are fermented, taking into account a light drying for 20 days for the Sangiovese variety. Cold maceration before fermentation is carried out to extract perfumes and aromas, followed by fermentation at 25 °C. The wine is then aged for a year in French and American oak barrels.

With a deep and very intense amaranth red colour, the nose reveals notes of black cherry and black currant, white pepper and sweet vanilla. The palate is elegant and harmonious, with silky tannins, fruity freshness and the return of dark chocolate and coffee beans. The finish is long and persistent.

Excellent with mushroom-based dishes such as risotto and escalopes, game and stewed meat.
