Description
What kind of wine it is
Melograni di Teruzzi is a Tuscan red wine with a defined profile, born from a meticulous blend of Sangiovese and Petit Verdot. It combines fruity notes with pleasant boisée hints and delivers a measured balance between structure and smoothness. Careful vinification and targeted maturation allow for a full and balanced style, perfect to represent the territory with gustatory precision.
Where it comes from
The selected grapes for Melograni are grown in Montegonfoli, a hilly area situated in the municipality of San Gimignano, in the province of Siena. The origin falls within the Toscana denomination, which highlights the careful selection of vineyard plots. This particular landscape, with ideal exposures and suitable soils, ensures optimal conditions to obtain bunches of remarkable aromatic concentration and gives the wine a notable intensity and lasting flavor.
How it is made
Harvesting is carried out by hand to ensure rigorous selection of the bunches directly in the vineyard. The must undergoes fermentation in truncated-cone-shaped steel tanks at a controlled temperature to facilitate precise extraction and aromatic cleanliness. Subsequently, the wine is aged in French oak tonneaux for a period ranging from twelve to fifteen months. The process concludes with a five-month rest in steel tanks, ideal for stabilizing its profile.
Tasting notes
In the glass, it displays a bright ruby red hue and maintains a deep visual transparency consistent with this category and the wood aging. The aromatic spectrum is broad and persistent, characterized by clear notes of red fruit that merge with the hints conferred by oak. On the palate, it offers a full and intense sip, marked by a precise progression and a final sensation where sweetness and structure harmoniously come together.
Food pairings
The texture of this red makes it an ideal match for grilled red meats and roasted dishes. At the table, it naturally pairs with lamb dishes, complementing their succulence. It is also perfect for serving alongside a platter of aged cheeses thanks to its complex spicy notes. In regional traditions, it pairs beautifully with bistecca alla fiorentina or with flavorful and structured recipes such as "peposo all’imprunetina".
When to serve it
This red is ideal for shared moments at the table, especially during lunches and dinners where bold dishes are the stars. Its identity makes it suitable for important occasions and ensures a decisive and balanced drinking experience. Wood maturation brings nuanced aromas that enrich the tasting experience, offering a very defined sip. Moreover, the label adorned with the unicorn symbol gives it strong visual recognition.
