Description
What kind of wine it is
Valpolicella Ripasso Superiore Monti Garbi produced by Tenuta Sant’Antonio is a bold red wine made from a blend of Corvina, Rondinella and Oseleta grapes. This classic expression of the Verona area stands out for its intense aromatic profile, the result of a meticulous process that includes the use of Amarone yeasts during vinification. After a period of maturation, the wine develops a well-defined tannic structure and a finely spiced finish while maintaining an elegant style.
Where it comes from
The grapes destined for this Veronese red come from vineyards located in the province of Verona, with clear traceability linked to the local villages of origin. Specifically, the vines grow in the areas of Colognola ai Colli and Mezzane di Sotto. Great care is taken in the vineyard, culminating in a rigorous manual harvest. This precise geographical location allows the wine to fully express the characteristics of local viticulture.
How it is produced
The production process begins with a gentle pressing of the grapes, designed to extract only the best must without compromising the integrity of the fruit. The fermentation in barrique follows, carried out at controlled temperature to ensure a regular evolution and great stylistic precision. After this initial phase, the wine undergoes a long maturation in barrique for fifteen or sixteen months before bottling. This skilled use of wood enriches the tasting experience, shaping a profile that balances structure with softness.
Tasting notes
When poured, the wine presents a deep ruby red color, a direct result of the red-skinned grapes and barrel aging. The nose opens with clear aromas of red fruit and cherries, leading to subtle and enveloping undertones. On the palate, it is fresh, pleasant and smooth, supported by a perceptible but well-polished tannic structure that accompanies the entire tasting. The finish is marked by a spicy aftertaste that gives a long, balanced finale between texture and aromatic persistence.
Food pairings
The natural freshness and enveloping texture of this red make it the ideal companion for first courses with ragù, where it perfectly balances the richness of the sauce. Its spicy finish and structure pair extremely well with aged cheeses, balancing their intense flavors. It also reveals its full potential alongside robust dishes such as roasts and grilled red meats, offering solid support for hearty bites. Finally, its versatility allows it to pair harmoniously even with white meats.
When to serve it
This Ripasso Superiore is smooth, enveloping and pleasantly spiced; it’s the right wine when the table features intense but not overly heavy flavors. Also ideal with flavorful white meats, it’s perfect for an autumn or winter dinner, or for a Sunday lunch with a rich and convivial taste.
