Description
What kind of wine it is
Merlo Artista is a white wine made from 100% Ribolla Gialla, produced by Bosco del Merlo. It shows a deep straw-yellow color and an enveloping, structured and harmonious profile, able to convey intensity and emotion from the very first sip.
Where it comes from
The grapes come from vineyards in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, an area with a deep bond with Ribolla Gialla, a native variety emblematic of this territory. The soil characteristics prove optimal for its cultivation, fostering freshness and aromatic complexity in the finished wine.
How it is made
Harvest takes place in the first ten days of September, with picking concentrated during the coolest hours of the day to preserve the grapes’ primary aromas. This is followed by about four days of skin maceration before a gentle pressing to separate the must. Fermentation occurs in stainless-steel tanks at low temperatures, followed by an extended period of aging on the lees before bottling.
Tasting notes
The color is bright, deep straw yellow. On the nose it opens with fresh lime blossom, accompanied by white peach and delicate exotic nuances of papaya. On the palate the balance is lively, poised between freshness, warmth and fine minerality, in a structured and harmonious sip.
Food pairings
It is ideal with fish dishes, particularly oven-baked sea bass in a salt crust, where its structure and freshness find a natural balance. It also pairs well with a selection of blue cheeses.
When to serve it
Serve at 8–10°C, ideal both alongside a fish-based meal and for more casual social occasions. Its freshness also makes it well suited as a prelude to an important lunch or dinner.
