Description
What kind of wine it is
Vinsobres by Victor Berard is a red wine from the Southern Rhône Valley, made from Grenache and Syrah. It offers freshness and elegance with an intense and harmonious aromatic profile, maintaining a well-defined structure and good depth. The winemaking follows a traditional approach, with temperature-controlled fermentation and ageing on the lees, which enhances roundness and complexity. On the palate, the style stays fresh and powerful, with well-integrated tannins and a long finish.
Where it comes from
This Vinsobres originates in the southern part of the Rhône Valley, from vineyards situated on terraces between 200 and 450 metres above sea level. The parcels overlook Mont Ventoux and the Prealps, a setting that supports a profile marked by freshness and elegance without forgoing intensity. Altitude and terraced layout influence the ripening of the grapes and contribute to a red wine with balanced character, able to combine energy and harmony.
How it is made
The grapes are harvested both by hand and mechanically, then the clusters are destemmed and sent for traditional vinification lasting 2–3 weeks. Fermentation takes place at controlled temperature to maintain precision and consistency in the profile. The wine then ages on the lees, a practice that enhances aromatic complexity and roundness, also contributing to the perception of structure.
Tasting notes
It appears deep and concentrated red in colour. The bouquet is rich and complex, with notes of black cherry, raspberry and blackcurrant, complemented by hints of cocoa beans and spicy nuances. On the palate, it is fresh and powerful, supported by velvety and well-integrated tannins. The finish is long and persistent, recalling small red and black fruits and spicy accents.
Food pairing
It pairs consistently with dishes that emphasise structure, freshness and silky tannins. The recommended pairing is with roast milk-fed lamb with thyme, where the juiciness and aromas of the dish meet the dark fruit and spicy notes of the wine. It is equally suitable for stuffed quails, as the intensity of the bouquet and persistent finish support the complexity of the filling and accompany each bite through to the end.
When to serve
This is a red suitable for moments when you desire a fresh yet powerful sip, with velvety tannins and a long finish. The combination of aromatic intensity, elegance and roundness makes it perfect for lunches and dinners featuring roasts or dishes like stuffed quails. The notes of dark fruit and cocoa, along with the spicy accents, invite you to savour it slowly throughout the meal, enhancing its evolution and persistence.
