From the dream of producing great quality wines, cousins Ilario and Leopoldo Ruffino founded a small winery in 1877 near Florence, in the charming medieval village of Pontassieve. It quickly became one of the leading Italian wine producers, gaining international fame through the exportation of the first Chianti labels to the United States.

Over 130 years after its founding in Pontassieve, the Ruffino Group now owns 6 Tuscan estates located in areas with a high viticultural vocation; from the Senese Hills, to Chianti Classico, to the hills of Montalcino, and continues to express, through each century and each bottle, the history of the region's territory.

Among the winery's iconic wines are Chianti Classico Riserva Ducale and Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Riserva Ducale Oro (94 pts. James Suckling), which are deeply rooted in the company's history, and Modus, a perfect balance of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot with soft and velvety tannins.
