An innovative and experimental estate, San Felice is unequivocally associated with the image of 'Il Grigio', one of the most successful Chianti Classico Riservas of all time. The Chianti estate, located in the municipality of Castelnuovo Berardenga in the province of Siena, has long been a symbol of research and the promotion of native grape varieties. The acquisition of Tenuta Campogiovanni in Montalcino and Bell'Aja in Bolgheri confirms the drive and talent expressed by San Felice in Tuscany’s prime winegrowing areas.
Bright ruby red in color, Chianti Classico by San Felice (91 pt JS) already showcases all the potential of Sangiovese, balancing focused red-fruit notes with fresh acidity and pleasant tannins. Made from the estate’s best Sangiovese grapes selected in its Chianti Classico vineyards, Il Grigio Chianti Classico Riserva offers violet and red-fruit aromas on the nose and delivers a rich, rounded palate, with supple tannins well integrated with hints of cocoa and vanilla. The Gran Selezione shows aromas of currant and a detailed floral bouquet on the nose, while extended aging lends more mature nuances of cocoa, licorice, and tobacco. Also worth trying is the renowned Vigorello, a pioneer of the Super Tuscan movement first released in 1968 and today produced from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot.
