Innovative and experimental, San Felice is unmistakably associated with the image of 'Il Grigio', one of the most successful Chianti Classico Riservas ever. The Chianti estate, located in the territory of the municipality of Castelnuovo Berardenga, in the province of Siena, has long been a symbol of research and enhancement of indigenous grape varieties. The acquisition of the Tenuta Campogiovanni in Montalcino and Bell'Aja in Bolgheri confirms the enterprise and talent expressed by San Felice in the highly wine-vocational areas of Tuscany.
Brilliant ruby red in color, the San Felice Chianti Classico (91 pt JS) already showcases all the potential of Sangiovese, balancing compact hints of red fruits with fresh acidity and pleasant tannins. Produced with the best Sangiovese grapes selected from the Chianti Classico vineyards of the company, Il Grigio Chianti Classico Riserva offers aromas of violet and red fruits on the nose and presents a rich and round taste, with soft and well-integrated tannins with notes of cocoa and vanilla. The Gran Selezione version expresses aromas of currants and a detailed floral bouquet on the nose, while due to long aging it offers more mature notes of cocoa, licorice, and tobacco. Also worth trying is the famous Vigorello, a forerunner of the Supertuscans, first released in 1968 and currently the first product made from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot.
