Château La Gaffelière
Château La Gaffelière is a historic estate in Saint-Émilion, on Bordeaux's Right Bank, where the vine has been present since the Gallo-Roman era. The name is thought to derive from a medieval leper hospital, the "gaffet", that once stood here.
The estate belongs to the Malet Roquefort family, established in Saint-Émilion for about four centuries and regarded as the oldest family in the area. The château tells this long story through different styles and periods: from the fifteenth-century vaulted kitchen to the seventeenth- and eighteenth-century state wing.
Today, Count Léo de Malet Roquefort leads the property, renewing it while honoring family traditions. Château La Gaffelière blends a millennia-old history with a passion for wine in one of the most evocative places in Saint-Émilion.
