Château Malescot-Saint Exupéry
Château Malescot Saint-Exupéry is a historic estate of the Margaux appellation, with the château in the heart of the village of Margaux. The name brings together two illustrious owners: Simon Malescot, the king's counsellor at the Parliament of Bordeaux, who bought the estate in 1697, and Count Jean-Baptiste de Saint-Exupéry, owner from 1827 to 1853.
In June 1955 the estate was purchased by Paul Zuger and his son Roger, and today it is run by Jean-Luc Zuger, with Gilles Pouget as technical director. The motto on the crest, "Semper ad altum", sums up the ambition that has driven the family's work for over thirty years.
The property covers 45 hectares, of which 28 are under vine on Pyrenean gravels, overlooking the river, a traditional hallmark of the finest vineyards in the Médoc. The blend comprises Cabernet Sauvignon (50%), Merlot (46%) and Petit Verdot (4%), with 12-14 months of maturation in barriques.
Alongside the grand vin comes La Dame de Malescot, for a production of around 120,000 bottles. A member of the Union des Grands Crus de Bordeaux, Château Malescot Saint-Exupéry is an elegant Margaux classic.
