Azienda Agricola La Torre
It was the spring of 1976 when Calabrian Giuseppe Ananìa purchased the La Torre estate from the historic Ciacci family in Montalcino. Located in the municipality of La Sesta, with one of the highest altitudes of the entire Brunello denomination, it hosted a ruin of a farmhouse at the top of a hill. According to a legend, next to the house was a tower whose foundations held gold: part of the Sassetti family, then owners of the estate, destroyed the tower and fled to Florence with the gold. Today, the gold is metaphorically represented by the wine produced by Giuseppe's son, Luigi Ananìa, who continued a precious tradition by producing great Brunello and Rosso di Montalcino. The latest creation of the winery is Ampelio, whose name recalls the ancient peasant toponymy now disappearing, produced in memory of a farmer friend who was a virtuous example of vine care.
