Founded in 1960 in the municipality of Guardia Sanframondi, in the province of Benevento, under the pressure of 33 forward-looking and courageous winemakers, La Guardiense is one of the largest wine cooperatives in Italy , which today has over 1000 members who cultivate more than 1500 hectares of vineyards located on the Sannio hills, between the Matese mountains and the Taburno. Since 2007 the cooperative has benefited from the advice of Riccardo Cotarella, an internationally renowned winemaker , who has always linked his professional commitment to the great ability to interpret and enhance the territories, recovering the ancient vines and obtaining wines of great value and elegance . The "Janare" line was born in this area, aimed at enhancing the autochthonous varieties of Campania , including Aglianico and Falanghina, the main grape of Sannio .
