Some of the world's most renowned wines are produced in the Rhône Valley, distinguished by their variety and quality.

Northern Rhône: Here, red wines predominantly made with Syrah grapes are known for their intensity, complexity, and aging ability. The region's white wines, such as Condrieu, are made with the Viognier grape and are appreciated for their tropical fruit and white flower aromas.

Southern Rhône: This area is famous for its robust and spicy red wines, often made from a blend of grapes such as Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre. The wines of Châteauneuf-du-Pape are among the most celebrated, known for their complex structure, ripe fruit aromas, Provencal herbs, and spices. The white and rosé wines produced here are also highly appreciated for their freshness and versatility.

The most important appellations are: Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Gigondas, Vacqueyras, Côtes-du-Rhône, Côtes-du-Rhône-Villages, Beaumes-de-Venise, and Tavel.
