When we talk about the most famous and widespread white grape variety in the world, we are certainly referring to Chardonnay. Capable of producing a wine of extraordinary qualities, Chardonnay remains, especially durig ageing, a versatile and promising emblem for composing pure wines and intriguing blends of extreme charm. Its close relationship with France, to which the Burgundian wine tradition has always delivered admirable masterpieces, has not prevented this grape variety from also being cultivated in the United States, Australia, New Zealand, Argentina and Chile. Italy has also long welcomed it as a valid expression of a generous and adaptable wine that can be expressed in different ways without losing its charm and elegance.

The different climates and latitudes make Chardonnay safe and ample, capable of producing fresh, subtle and essential wines as in the Chablis region, but also rich and almost opulent wines as in the case of California and Sicily. Furthermore, the wood ageing, so decisive for the success of Burgundy, configures a real production style and almost a vocation to achieve maximum organoleptic expression in refined wines with great personality, such as the examples produced in the Mâconnais and the Côte de Beaune: these are the wines in which tropical fruits and the woody notes of nuts such as almond and hazelnut meet the toastiness of the casks for a more integrated and complex flavour. From fresh, floral bouquet to ripe fruit notes, in short, Chardonnay is so versatile that it really does appeal to everyone.
