Côte de Nuits - The greatest Pinot Noir from Burgundy

The Côte de Nuits is the cradle of Burgundy's great reds, a thin strip of vineyards that stretches north of the Côte d'Or, from Marsannay to Nuits-Saint-Georges. Here, Pinot Noir finds some of its purest, deepest, and most age-worthy expressions, in a mosaic of plots, crus, and villages renowned worldwide for their elegance and complexity.

The combination of limestone soils, a continental climate, and know-how passed down through the centuries has given rise to a constellation of legendary Grand Crus: Chambertin, Clos de la Roche, Clos de Vougeot, Echézeaux, Grands Echézeaux, just to name a few. Each village in the Côte de Nuits has its distinct identity. Gevrey-Chambertin offers structured and austere wines, Chambolle-Musigny is synonymous with lightness and silkiness, Vosne-Romanée with sensuality and balance, Morey-Saint-Denis with tension and minerality, while Nuits-Saint-Georges combines strength and elegance in a style often more meaty and generous.

The area also includes lesser-known but highly interesting appellations, such as Marsannay and the hillside areas of Bourgogne Hautes Côtes de Nuits, which today attract the attention of enthusiasts and producers for the growing quality of the wines and the excellent value-to-terroir ratio.
