Each village in the Côte de Nuits has its distinct identity. Gevrey-Chambertin offers structured and austere wines, Chambolle-Musigny is synonymous with lightness and silkiness, Vosne-Romanée with sensuality and balance, Morey-Saint-Denis with tension and minerality, while Nuits-Saint-Georges combines strength and elegance in a style often more meaty and generous.

The area also includes lesser-known but highly interesting appellations, such as Marsannay and the hillside areas of Bourgogne Hautes Côtes de Nuits, which today attract the attention of enthusiasts and producers for the growing quality of the wines and the excellent value-to-terroir ratio.
