A love story of other times that between the first king of Italy, Vittorio Emanuele II of Savoy, and the Bela Rosin , woman of humble origins for which the "enlightened monarch" lost his head and that he wanted as a wife despite the difference in rank, age and despite being already married to Maria Adelaide of Habsburg. She granted the title of Countess of Mirafiori and Fontanafredda and to her two sons, born from their relationship, headed the hunting estate which mainly housed vineyards cultivated with Nebbiolo carefully selected by the king's will, located in the heart of one of the most suitable areas for the Barolo: Serralunga d'Alba .

One of the descendants, Emanuele Alberto Guerrieri da Mirafiori, played a fundamental role not only for Fontanafredda but for the history of all Barolo , as it contributed to spreading it and to consecrate its fame as a wine of noble lineage, of Wine of the Kings. acquired heritage, the company now aims to bring this estate back to the glories of the past by focusing on the concept of link with the territory, historical traditions and biodiversity, but also of innovation.

The cru of Barolo Vigna La Rosa and Lazzarito constitute the highest selection of this vital Langhe reality . These are accompanied by a very varied range made of different expressions that tell the Piedmont in all its essence: bubbles Alta Langa, Asti, Brachetto and Moscato among others. For the innovative imprint towards sustainability, the winery was elected "European Winery of the Year" for the year 2017 by the prestigious Wine Enthusiast magazine, repaying ten years of hard and passionate work that takes the form of integral conversion to organic .
