Historic name of the Langhe, of which it captures all its essence, Fontanafredda is located in Serralunga d'Alba, in the heart of the Barolo appellation. The estate boasts ancient origins : in the mid-19th century it was purchased by Vittorio Emanuele II and after a few decades the history of winemaking in the cellars of Fontanafredda would begin. The company reaches its maximum productive splendor at the beginning of the 1920s, and after alternating vicissitudes, it is today among the most important production realities of the Langhe . But it is perhaps with Barolo Vigna La Rosa (94 pt WE) that Fontanafredda expresses the best of itself: wide and intense floral aromas of dried rose and violet, with notes of tobacco and vanilla and a subtle hint of undergrowth will envelop you as if in a dream .
