The denomination Friuli Colli Orientali DOC represents one of the most suitable Italian areas for the production of quality white wines , which extends along the hilly belt of the province of Udine and is the most important center in the municipality of Cividale. The wines of the Colli Orientali are the result of a particularly favorable terroir which consists of a temperate microclimate , a soil of a clayey nature mixed with sandstones and of the highest quality vines .
Friuli's viticulture reflects its cosmopolitan history, hosting a wide assortment of indigenous but also international vines. Among the wines obtained from the most representative indigenous vines we find Ribolla Gialla , with a floral and fragrant bouquet, with a citrine entry in the mouth, elegant and refined; Friulano , with good structure and acidity, with a characteristic pleasant aroma of bitter almond; Pignolo , obtained from grapes of exceptional rarity and finesse, which give a "luxury" aging wine, tannic and characterized by intense aromas; Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso , wine with a peculiar herbaceous scent, with notes of dried plum and wild blackberry, fresh and tangy on the palate; and Schioppettino , a wine with a typical aroma of wild berries mixed with a typical spicy note reminiscent of green pepper.
