The Montagne de Reims is one of the most emblematic and historically significant areas in the production of Champagne. Located between Reims and Épernay, this region is famous for its limestone and chalk-rich soils, which are ideal for viticulture. The soil and climate conditions, which include deep, well-drained soils with good sun exposure, contribute significantly to the minerality and freshness of the Champagnes produced here. The most suitable vines in this area are Pinot Noir , which benefits from the excellent sun exposure of the southern slopes of the Montagne de Reims, giving structure and power to the Champagnes. However, there is no shortage of Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier vineyards, which add complexity and variety to the blends. Among the best-known villages of the Montagne de Reims, several Grand Crus stand out, considered of absolute excellence for the quality of their wines. Among these, Ambonnay, Bouzy, and Verzy are renowned for their robust and aromatic Pinot Noir , while Mailly and Sillery are prized for Champagnes that display great elegance and finesse .
