Barolo Wine Museum - WIMU - a journey into the emotion of wine

There are many wine museums in Italy, often small and also made by individual producers, who wish to witness the history and ancient roots of viticulture. In 2010 the most innovative and most interesting Italian wine museum in the world was inaugurated in Barolo. The museum is located in one of the most prestigious areas of Italian wine. We are in the heart of the Langhe , in the fascinating spaces of the Barolo Castle. The Barolo Wine Museum, WiMU, was designed to create a place where history and traditions could also become a moment of sharing the culture of wine and a convivial space. The WiMu is proposed as a place of knowledge and deepening for all fans, who are not satisfied with just drinking a good wine, but want to know what's behind a large bottle and a prestigious name. In addition to the possibility of individual visits or guided visits for groups and school groups, the WiMu offers the opportunity to participate in guided tastings to deepen the practical knowledge of the world of wine. The museum also offers spaces for private and corporate events, within a fascinating historical setting. Curated by François Confino , famous curator of exhibitions and museums all over the world, the WiMu allows you to make an exciting journey to discover wine, through the history and culture of a territory. A path that sweeps and widens the horizon, trying to tell the wine in all its aspects, including social ones. The visit is structured as a progressive descent towards the heart of the wine, its intimate essence. It starts from the panoramic terrace on the third floor of the Castle, to go down to the ancient cellars. It is an interactive experience with multimedia installations, texts, images, videos, installations, which allow the spectator involvement and a true total immersion in this fascinating world. The itinerary starts from the vineyard and the nature of the territory, and then continues through the history of wine and its relationships with the world of art, literature, culture, cinema and gastronomy. For those who are not satisfied with the theory, in addition to the tastings organized within the WuMu they recommend a visit to the Barolo Regional Enoteca, where the 11 Langhe countries where Barolo is produced are represented. A way to know and deepen the nuances of a great wine and the particular expressions of each individual territory of this prestigious denomination.
