The Associazione Italiana Sommelier (AIS) is an association of professional sommeliers that promotes the culture of wine in Italy. AIS was founded in 1965 and has over 20,000 members. Every year the AIS publishes the Vitae Guide, a guide to the best Italian wines, whose maximum recognition is the "4 viti". It is awarded to wines that score at least 91 points on a 100-point scale. The wines that obtain the recognition of the four vines are considered wines of excellence, which stand out for their quality, complexity and harmony.
